It’s crazy how they’re so opposed to anything that’s not exactly like what they’ve been eating their whole life. But he’s more than willing to try new things, and new flavors, with no judgement. The same thing happened when he cooked for the Vietnamese. The only thing they were concerned with is’ “why is this not like everything else I’ve ever tasted”?!?.

I've never seen Ramsay on edge while cooking like this before. He's the under dog this time and he knew it.
Love how he doesn't underestimate anyone. We all know he can cook but the coolest thing about this guy is his character. He's so kind and geuine yet one of the most stern and tough person out there in the food industry.

Yeah, actualy more of mixed local culture from neighboring island, actually rendang is from the minang culture in Sumatra region Indonesia, and a lot of minang people are in Malaysia and become Malaysian, even you could find some of the Javanese flavours are in Malaysia too since a lot of Javanese work there.

I have no doubt that Gordon is a first class chef, but I don't think he has enough experience in competitive cooking in general. I'm pretty sure that Bobby Flay and all the other Iron Chefs could beat him most of the time unless he gets into cooking competitions on a regular basis. He has proven in this video that he learns quickly and that he would become a champ, but, of course, that's not his main career thing. He's making much more money in TV hosting and other ventures.
