Near perfect watch? I'd buy a Rolex over any other brands... taking into consideration their heritage, quality, brand awareness and price. Other than that? A Seiko will do

Can you clarify if the JD brand was alive for all the duration of 200+ years? or had the brand died and then was revived by Swatch group for marketing purposes? I'm not an expert but I feel that Swiss watch industry is reviving dead and closed brands in last 10 years to claim heritage.

I remember wathing an imazing documentary about clocks and automaton makers a few years ago. Jaquet Droz was showcased there, he used to make mechanical birds and clocks. I'd like to warn you though, the current JD company has nothing to do with Jaquet Droz the clockmaker. Way too many modern watch companies are buying the brand name and have no heritage at all. For that reason, Rolex and Patek continue to be the best value watches, they are family companies that can be traced back to their founders. Lang as well I believe, and I would give my right arm to wear a F.P. Journe on my left wrist.

*I'd say the new Seiko Prospex LX Line equipped with **_Spring Drive_** movements will be the bestseller these days* .... oops, Seiko did it agian) Check SNR025 - the only watch you ever need.
PS. Not to mention that there are always few models of Grand Seiko in a price range to 5000$ to choose from.

Sorry but you somehow forgot Favre-Leuba this brand was founded a year before jaquet droz. And are still going today.
They owned JLC from 1969-1976 (or there abouts) and have a fantastic history.
Hopefully one day you could do a video on the bivouac, or the deep blue. Or any of the other iconic pieces they created.

The perfect watch... WOW! Fortunately I passed the phase of spending on garments and accessories and found the joy of life beyond making brand-holders rich. (LOL) Yes this kind of life actually exists, but it's limited to those who can afford it... Let me explain... It's a matter of affording NOT to show-off wealth; that's when you own wealth... Now-days people tend to put on display stuff they can't actually afford, in order to be "someone", but there are those who don't need to do so... Those will never ever spend this kind of money on crap like this...
