My Custom Mac Pro

  • Built a custom hackintosh in a case that looks very Apple. If you're new to hackintoshes, don't build in this case. It was gnarly.

Builds hackintosh and uses a work machine that's Apple-Based.
Apple should hire you to be honest and start designing their products.

lol complaining about no space but that's his fault for picking a small case

Edit: Also, wtf he chose a mouse because it has a USB-C port, just wtf
Not hating, but some hasty decisions were made in the build

    • Michael Kinder
      Michael Kinder Month ago

@Aaron He's the one that picked the case. ITX is small as is, but he obviously shouldn't be complaining about how cramped it is because of the form factor he chose. They're all going to be cramped. He had the option of picking other cases (and there are thousands of other cases out there). I was just pointing out that he was complaining about having no space despite knowing that the form factor is small as is. Also, he says (about the mouse), "the main reason I'm using it is because of the USB-C connection". That's not a good reason to use a mouse. I would prefer to use a mouse that actually provides useful features. Sure, if USB-C was the only I/O available on the computer then I would understand, but if you look at the motherboard he used, there's literally only one USB-C port and the rest are type-A. The mouse looks cool, don't get me wrong, but just saying you picked it because it utilized USB-C is somewhat a little unnerving to me. I'm a big fan of USB-C, and I'm sure it's going to continue to be well-adopted in the near future, however there are some other great options in terms of mice that he could have picked.

    • Aaron
      Aaron Month ago

@Michael Kinder how is it his fault for picking a small case? he was going for a mini itx build, and the most mac like possible. Obviously aesthetic and size was a priority. The case was not perfectly designed and he wanted to let his viewers know about the dimentions. and if you have multiple mouse that are around the same, and one has a functionality that you particularly like, of course you are going to pick it. he didnt pick it solely cause of usb c, he picked it because it was one of the few mouse that he liked that has a usb c connection

    • MrSteel Nutz
      MrSteel Nutz Month ago

@Michael Kinder idk everyone have their priorities i guess, i barely have a mouse that works so I'm no one to judge

    • Michael Kinder
      Michael Kinder Month ago

@MrSteel Nutz I don't have a problem with USB-C, but the fact that he chose it simply for that reason is pretty ridiculous. Would you choose a mouse solely because it has USB-C?

    • MrSteel Nutz
      MrSteel Nutz Month ago

Lol whats the problem with usb c? Its just there to charge it

For professionals considering a Hackintosh: In a long term view a Hackintosh is way more expensive as a real Mac. Energy consumption is extremely high and will cause high bills from your power supplier. All the small things making your life easier you get with a new Mac. WLAN, Bluetooth etc will cause further expenses. Furthermore you have to have a fully prepared back-up disk, running exact the same configuration in case you screw the next update (well, you better do so with every computer). You risk being put down right in the middle of a project! There will be no company being held responsible and no quick solution for a substitute. You have to get the machine running again on your own while you should earn money. Prepare yourself with a fully equipped substitute, thus meaning more expenses. Building a Hackintosh needs way more than average IT knowledge and the many hours you put in is time without income.
Buy a new Mac and you can start making money almost instantly. A Hackintosh is in my opinion a fun project for geeks having time on their hand and some cash.

Good build Dave. That's a very nice case. I wouldn't personally use iTX. As I prefer expanding and adding to my machine as time progresses. I hope you are still using this machine as it's definitely got great specs.
