I live in Puerto Rico, and for the last week of December, to as of now, we've been experiencing constant chains of earthquakes. It's terrifying.
Last Tuesday an 6.6 earthquake struck our little island at 4:00 in the morning. It's so terrifying to be in complete darkness, and witness everything shake violently. Then the next minute we get alerted for a tsunami, whilts being unprepared. Everybody turning on their cars and leaving for high ground, while my family had our car in the mechanic for repair. No one offered to take us with them towards safety, we just had to run, leaving our pets behind :(

What I learned in science is that when earthquakes are overdue, they gather more tension leading to a stronger earthquake so us here in San Diego are dead. Oof

I was in class when we had the 7.0 earthquake in Alaska. Our ceiling tiles fell down, we had an emergency sprinkler explode ext. I got home and my oven and fridge was moved out from the wall, all the mugs fell down (except my favorite one) the TV fell on a football and broke, and my cats were terrified.

Until I got on social media after the most recent big earthquakes it hadn’t occurred to me that there were people who either hadn’t lived in California long enough, and/or weren’t old enough to have been through the Northridge earthquake. Earthquake safety/preparation was always drilled in at home and at school.
