  • The outlaws made headlines. The lawmen made history. Watch The Highwaymen on Netflix March 29, 2019.
From director John Lee Hancock (The Blind Side), THE HIGHWAYMEN follows the untold true story of the legendary lawmen who brought down Bonnie and Clyde. When the full force of the FBI and the latest forensic technology aren’t enough to capture the nation’s most notorious criminals, two former Texas Rangers (Kevin Costner and Woody Harrelson) must rely on their gut instincts and old school skills to get the job done. THE HIGHWAYMEN also stars Kathy Bates, John Carroll Lynch, and Kim Dickens.

Just finished it! I appreciated how Bonnie & Clyde were barely centered in the movie and how it focuses on the two leads hunting them down. When I learned how many people attended their funerals and were grabbing at their dead bodies in the car, it sickened me!

Good movie but not entirely accurate, it's been disproven that Bonnie ever shot any police officers while they were down, also take into account that the movie starts near the end of their criminal run, well after Bonnie was critically burned in a car crash and one of her legs was really burned to a crisp, that they got right, she limps through the entire movie. Also I think that Hamer started off by himself for a lond time and that Gault didn't come till they were close to the ambush set up.

Didn't like the way Maney Gault was portrayed, but Costner always has to be the hotdog in everything he does. From what I've read Hamer and Gault were good friends and both were respected Rangers, this movie kind of makes Gault out to be a booze hound. Still enjoyed the movie.

Smooth film. I was never a big Costner fan, but here hes so calm and cool that I must give it to him. Woody is always money in the bank. By the way, on the real story, those two humanoids were just cold blood killers, you can consider them as serial ones. And the STUPIDITY of the people that went to their funerals is beyond me... Is so FAIR that in this film here they didnt presented them as a "romantic" story or something else cheesy, but as what they realy were, a waste of oxygen and nothing else.

Movie was a bit of a snorefest. And they had some historical inaccuracies too. I mean Bonnie and Clyde were vicious killers who shouldnt be mytholigized, but the portrayal of Hamer was exaggerated to the point that he was this ultra heroic stoic hero. The film did had some topnotch dialogue and amazing cinmetagrophy that captured the time period. Costner and Harrelson were phenomenal as well as the kid who portrayed Ted Hinton. But the music was boring and sometimes non-existent. And yeah 60% of the film were a doozy.

    • Eric Perron
      Eric Perron 10 days ago

Actually, I felt the movie did not give enough credit to Frank Hamer. The guy was already using finger prints and matching bullets to a gun back in the 20s. Also, he wasn't so old in that he was only 50 when he went after bonnie and clyde.

I read a lot of comments that this movie was boring and slow. People, can't you sit in one place for a few hours? Can't you concentrate? That's why stupid Marvel movies make millions. Because people don't read, people don't contemplate, they just run run run. More, bigger, explosions, shiny stuff. Pathetic

  • Michael Froelich
    Michael Froelich 17 days ago

At the end of this film there is a real picture of Frank Hamer outside the garage of his house on Riverside Drive in Austin posing with some of Clyde's guns, which Hamer took as remembrances of the event. I live very close to that house, and it's NOT anything as nice as the one depicted in this horrible film. Hamer merely took the guns and sold them for money, the way he always did in such situations. Hamer took and made money any way he could without doing anything which would get him prosecuted, and advanced himself by ratting on fellow officers who took bribes.
