Why is a joke w sin now

  • Michelle Nich

No sins for the fact that grindelwald is literally hitler? Like not even trying to hide it. He's just hitler. Silver tongued ethno-nationalist from Austria who seeks to exterminate and subjugate a race on the justification that they'll start another war?
Would not be surprised if in the next film they just outright say Hitler was grindelwald using polyjuice.

They're only immortal if they've made a Philosopher's Stone (or Sorcerer's stone if you're American) - I've not seen this film, but I think that the alchemist guy is meant to be the same guy who made the stone from the first Harry Potter film.

The biggest sin is that they absolutely demolished Queenie’s character in this movie. Like, in the first movie Queenie was a nice, sensitive person. She loved the Jacob, and cared for him. And now in this movie, she’s like, grossly obsessed with him. And then, she decided to join a dude, who hates muggles, when her fucking boyfriend is a muggle. And he wants to kill all muggles. Like, I understand that she’s sad about whatever the fuck she was sad about, but she’s really willing to follow a dude that wants to commit genocide over it?? I’m honestly disgusted. I loved Queenie so much in the first movie but now she’s just a ducking asshole!!

don't forget that makes the obliviate spell pretty useless if it only erases bad memories when the point of the spell is to erase memories. I feel a lot of muggles would consider seeing something magical not an unpleasant memory if they see a unicorn or something. The magic would have been exposed with that weakness.

i’m only 5 minutes i’m so maybe he does talk about this but:

100 sins for them saying the obliviate curse only erases bad memories. Hermione used it to literally erase her existence from her parents memory's in the deathly hallows. That means her parents hated her, which isn't true.

    • thespb01
      thespb01 3 days ago +1

How exactly is that racist? I wasn't saying Canada is second tier, I'm saying that London, Ontario is not a very important or well known city (11th most populous metropolitan area in Canada - and it's not like Canada is full of people) - if someone says London, the original city is almost always the one that comes to mind. Just putting London would have sufficed, as the general context of the following scenes would be enough to know that it's not in Ontario, or any other Londons.

    • Jim
      Jim 3 days ago

    • thespb01

They're showing Big Ben and everyone in the following scenes are speaking with various British accents. No one's going to confuse it with a second-tier city in Canada.

Well somebody wasn’t paying attention to either movie. Credence survived in the first one, and it was shown because while MOST of his obscurus form was destroyed, a small wisp of it was not, which ironically would’ve made a great “small piece of bad guy survives so he’s not really dead cliche” sin. Also the forcefield is not Grindelwald’s, and the magical monster maintenance? Dude the series is called FANTASTIC BEASTS. They’re gonna cram magical creatures into every one of these!

18:27 - Voldemort was a terrible character. He was a trope. Even his macguffin was bad - horcruxes are just failed rip-offs of phylacteries. Voldemort was just a bad lich. Grindelwald actually has a personality, goals other than "become immortal, kill the non-purebloods". He's a person, not a concept he's more than a punchline, which automatically makes Grindelwald a better character than Voldemort.

Another sin: Dumbledore never went full evil he doesn't have the qualifications for Defense Against the Dark Arts. His qualifications make him more of a Divination professer; vague predictions, advice from fortune cookies, sending under qualified wizards on obscure missions, and that arrogant smugness that every single event is going according to his plans.

  • Booglie Jooglie
    Booglie Jooglie Month ago

They did mention albus' brother in The Harry Potter Video Bible pt.7: the Deathly Hallows pt.1, albeit an extremely vague 'omg dumbledore wasn't that great of a guy didn't you hear about what he did to his brother' way. What about the thousand sins for grindlewald having the deathly hallow wand when the bible pt.7 made dumbledore stealing the wand such a central part of the plot. Dobby died just to find out that little bit of information and now Fantastic Beasts is spitting all over the saddest death of the greatest character! It is time to rise up and savagely riot, decapitate and burn EVERYONE involved with these atrocities! DOBBY!!!!!!! At least do a sin remake video for this shitty prequel.

Why is a maledictus treated like a circus freak, but an animagus isn't even worth blinking an eye at? The only difference is that at some point, a maledictus can't change back.

    • Ian Way
      Ian Way 24 days ago

@AdraicStarks It's not 'perfectly normal' if it's incredibly rare, but the process of which it happens is completely understood and is achievable, where as the maledictus's curse isn't curable and isn't attainable, which makes them 'monsters' in the same way werewolves are monsters in the world of harry potter. Animagus are treated like humans, maledictus are treated like animals/monsters, so they are side shows in the same way that any one of the 'Ripley's believe it or not' side shows are sideshows, or the same as why we watch trained animals in the circus perform. It's not 'look at what this person can do!' it's 'look at what this monster can do!' and is a piece of social commentary about the way people in the 20th century looked at what constituted a human deserving of rights. If Animagus weren't considered human beings with rights then you would see them in similar cages, but since they started as humans and later learned to turn into animals it's harder to justify caging them and forcing them to perform for people. Malesdictus are considered one of the 'fantastic beasts' even though they are ostensibly human. It's a rehash of the thing they did with werewolves in HP except instead of just being social outcasts and feared/hated, Maledictus in the 1920s were caged and gawked at for being different which is basically what Ripley's Believe it or Not was back in the day. In current day Harry Potter it is implied that Maledictus would not be treated in the way they are treated here, because the definition of 'human' has expanded greatly in the last 80 years.

    • AdraicStarks
      AdraicStarks 24 days ago

@Ian Way Still, though, wizards turning into animals is a perfectly normal thing, so why does being able to do it from birth & eventually not being able to turn back make you some sort of public attraction?

    • Ian Way
      Ian Way 25 days ago

maledictus can do it naturally whenever they want from birth, and animagus have to learn to be animagus are worth blinking an eye at, they are incredibly rare because it is hard to achieve and if it backfires there are bad consequences and also regulated heavily by the government

We're gonna start needing sins for Cinema Sins' flat sense of humor, the incorrect classification of sins, and sins for every time they miss a sin.
