Uhm... not to be THAt guy but did you seriously reach into an plasmacutter while it was operating ? Reminds me on that day when my old Carpentry-Instructor decided to forego all security-measures on the table-saw and promptly got two fingers amputated....

The spikes need to be welded directly to the inside of the wheel and poke out for it to actually rip something apart, the tire itself keeps absorbing the impact.
