I bought an 09 Toyota Camry se for 5k w/110k miles so far so good, registering it was annoying, you got to get a break and light inspection, smog check and you got to get the vin# verified by the dmv, plus I had to change the o2 sensor, guy that sold it to me didn't tell me. Probably won't buy another salvaged title, bought it out of desperation plus it does look like new, I was about to get a car at a dealer and get stuck with a 5 year bill and high insurance bills...,so....I'm happy.

Here in new york in order to make a salvage titled car road legal again you need receipts for every single replaced part to prove none of the parts were stolen. That means no junkyard parts. Without receipts and a ton of pictures of the damage the car or motorcycle will never be road legal again. They care more about stolen parts then safety.

I've considered buying a salvage late-model Accord but you just don't know. Yeah, the bodywork looks fine and the paint matches pretty well, but how do I know there's not damage underneath I can't see? It's just a gamble. Sure, some of them will be great, but not sure it's worth the risk.

The airbag/seatbelt/SRS light goes off will take a shit even.on any vehicles, even brand new ones.
My 2010 Kia Forte Koup SX 2.4L 6MT has NEVER been in any collisions/hits/accidents at all it's entire time. F*cking sensors on sensors go off like god damn dominoes effect.
This include even the 2020 vehicles. Occupant weight sensor mats, seatbelt pre tensioner, seatbelt harness, weight classification system module, seat track/rail sensors, clock springs, passenger airbag (PAB), driver airbag (DAB), rear passenger airbags (RPA), the curtain airbags, side impact airbags, steering wheel airbag, dashboard airbags, front bumper impact crash sensors, side impact crash sensors, rear impact crash sensors all or just ONE F*CKING sensor can just f*ck up all the other sensors. Lock in that dtc/code in requiring to either install a new one or replace all the damn F*cking sensors/modules/wire harness/cables & any occupant sensor mats, sh*t even the airbags modules themselves or be forced to take it to the stealership get the usual bs bend you over price to simply clear & remove, reset & update the software. It's that simple.
Not fun when the customer bitches about how much it's gonna cost to do WTF?! what what?
Also people, STOP SPILLING YOUR F*CKING DRINKS ON YOUR SEATS. THAT SHIT WILL SHORT THE DAMN OCCUPANT SENSOR MAT/PLATE. Especially if the seats have HVAC (cooling & heating/tiny little holes on the seat) don't bitch when that all goes to sh*t & off as the cars at fault. When we remove the seat & strip it clean we'll see the damages & will not cover under warranty if it's user/owner fault. 😂🤣😂🤣🤣

I drive a 2012 Ford Fiesta 5 speed hatchback that eventually was a twice salvage title eventually. Lol I bought it in 2013 for $9,000 with 12,000 miles. I bought it while working at Ford dealership so I can get parts discounted. It originally was hit in the front and repaired. It was hit in the back while I was coming off the freeway. The alignment was good and everything was crash parts so it got fixed again and I made a good bit from the ladies insurance and used my Ford parts discount. Lol

My first car was a 2004 golf GTI , it unknowingly had a salvage title. But I got it super cheap with the help of my dad , $4500 for a GTI back in 2007 right when the mk5 was coming out. It had 50,000 miles on it. Thought it was a steal. So it's title (when I went to trade it in, don't ask why I never bothered to look it over) came back with flood damage. I can say it was mostly reliable with the exception of the oil pan gasket wearing prematurely and mystery electrical issues with the head lights , now I realize that was probably due to the flood damage. So I'd agree stay away from flooded cars but salvage titled vehicles can definitely be a bargain , IF you plan to keep them for a couple years.

One important thing you should have mentioned: Buying a salvage title car most often must be a full cash purchase. Many banks won't finance a salvage title vehicle, thus making them harder to buy than clean title cars.

I just bought a 2011 Audi A5 with a rebuilt title, couldn't pass up the deal. This car is in pristine condition with 79k miles. Ive worked on cars my whole life and I cant even find what was repaired on the car. The carfax said rear end collision and air bags didn't deploy. I plan on keeping it for atleast 5 years so I feel confident with the car.

It's all about checking the vehicle over or having a professional look at it. Knock on wood I have had tremendous success with salvaged vehicles and saved tons of money. A long time ago I was also the victim of a title wash vehicle, of course I didn't know it was a washed until it was totaled and yes that cost me. Caveat emptor people.....

My rich best friend in collaged made his parents bought him a 2009 Renault Megane RS and he had it for like 2 months and I remember one day he took the car for the first service and being a turbocharged car it required a service on the first 7000 km so he ride with me to collage-like for two days because Renault dealerships here suck balls, then he got his car back but suddenly the airbag light started randomly on, he got the idea that this guys at Renault had crashed and repaired his car in just two days I helped him to asses the car and it had no apparent damage, and here because of the high amount of parts stolen insurance companies carve the VIN on must comonly stoled parts like headlights glasses and wheels, but neither the double sun rood panels nor the windshield got the VIN, and even thou I told him it must be an electronic failure he wanted to get rid of the car so he convinced his father that the car was too small and un safe and got a new Dodge Charger and I purschsed the amazxing renault for like 5000k euros, I went home with my new car got online and find out it was a common fault of 2 door RS due to a sensor on underneath the seat that gets out of place when accessing the rear seats, I never told him. and got my self a 16k euro Renualt for less than a Third of the price !!!
