Tie wraps are better security than this garbage of a lock. Screw Viro, and make sure they close their doors. They CLEARLY don't know how to manufacture locks. AT ALL.

Thiis lock guarantees 100% that your bike will not get stolen, if you dont own one. Thanks Viro!

Poor Viro, they need to get down to the basics and see why it's so easy to force open this lock.

wish you had used a torque wrench to measure just how much (or little) effort was required to open these

My question is what is your motivation? Is it to show your thief buddies the best way to steal?

  • David Clawson
    David Clawson 13 days ago

The funny thing is, you think they would've *not* sent him a sample unless they'd tried the same thing themselves first. I mean, he gave you the test and the answer, but you still messed it up.

  • Jari Haukilahti
    Jari Haukilahti 14 days ago

So the company never did their own testing or didnt realise this guy is like me - metals brake for whatever reason - eg not normal guy and this might be consideration , thiefs usually are weakish and maybe apply force in bursts . A guy like me apply constant froce over a long timeperiod -usually my tool brakes ,bolts gets rounded -not funny since im really weak.

It took you longer to open the packaging than it did to open the locks, not a good look for them, back to the drawing board Viro!

Surely lock companies must know by now that if they are going to send you a lock that’s already in production then it better be a damn good lock! Not just the same lock as before! Dear oh dear! 😂

    DELIBRIUM 23 days ago

    you are a god

  • Dasgewt
    Dasgewt 24 days ago

They hand selected a lock to send to you, knowing the attack you were going to use, and they didn't test it themselves first?

  • Awol991
    Awol991 24 days ago

A proper manufacturer would have date stamped production codes on them somewhere so they could have asked you to look for those and verify if the original lock was from the bad sample rather than just blindly claiming it was from the bad batch. Or does lock manufacturing not use date codes on the products?

  • Alexander F
    Alexander F 24 days ago

Viro really doubled down on this product for some reason.

  • Isoquant

If Viro’s product were as good as their customer service, they’d really be on to something.
I have no doubt they will put to use the lessons learned here to improve their future offerings.

I love that the stupidity of having a non-functioning lock was somehow topped by the stupidity of being allowed to send him a supposedly perfectly-functioning one and he immediately finds the same flaw lol

Got worse with the offers from Viro. Someone on marketing and / or design is now looking for work...
Do you plan to disassemble to show where the weaknesses are? Or is it simply the type of cylinder that is not good for this purpose?
