I don't recognize the best Artie in these records.

When I compare this music to what we have now, I cry. And I'm way too young to remember this as it was. Just hearing these old recordings, the truth is obvious.

"La Paloma" 17:41 sure sounds a lot like "Begin the Beguine" in part and isn't that, arguably one of his greatest hits, if not #1?

I imagine myself in a 1940 Packard Super Eight coupe, I am wearing a sharp suit and a hat, and I am picking up my well-dressed date for an evening of dining and dancing...

Artie Shaw played a sweet clarinet, but more importantly he played music.

This was popular music & dance music, then after years of technological innovation we morphed dance music into repetitive unsophisticated noise garbage. In popular culture we're devolving musically.

This music had a profound impact on American culture, I do believe. Popular music morphed into rock & roll, rock, etc., but this music is now classic. And, of course, classical music still sells!

I'm a guy who struggles with fairly chronic anxiety and this is one of the things that actually drives the anxiety, if not exactly away, then at least back far enough where I don't have it so constantly pressing on my mind. Definitely a God send. Thank you!
