Julie Andrews turned down a featured role in this movie because she didn’t want to take away from Emily Blunt’s “spotlight”

How about a sequel "Mary Poppins s*ds off again"? Oh wait... she did.

I love the film but I still laughed at this.

Sooo glad I have not seen this crap-why is Emily Blunt putting on that terrible accent?

  • Nyxira
    Nyxira 5 days ago

Nah, brah. They actually were making loads of innuendos during that song. It's like the essence of Cockney, is why. I think they did one song like that in the original, too.

    • Nyxira
      Nyxira 5 days ago

Also, the rhyming everything is another very Cockney thing. They legitimately do that. Where do you think the nickname "Bob" came from? It sure as heck doesn't make sense for someone called "Robert".
(This is not a complaint about the video, just a fun fact)

Bruuuuuuuuuuuuhhhhhhh this movie is even worse than the original. F*ck you movie

honestly, this new shitty reboot kinda makes me want to learn exactly just how much Disney screwed over PL Travers's wishes when they made the first movie because I saw saving Mr banks which makes it seem like they didn't really give two shits about her and wanted the movie their way... but that movie was also made by Disney so they might've been even more shitty.
I mean I already hate Disney for copying everyone else's work and lobbying to make sure no one copies their work, but I feel like i might need to hate them even more if they acted as shittily towards Travers as I suspect they did

I definitely know one thing, I'm not seeing this movie, especially since I just learned the plot here... thanks cinemasins for allowing me to know the general plot without giving Disney my money

you know...he's saying exactly what i was thinking the whole time i was watching. like you wasted money on a movie sequel which is just the original with shit added in. it's like Barbie's The Princess and the Pauper. they literally made that movie over at least twice but different characters. i swear to god it was EXACTLY the same. and the mermaid and fairy movies.

It’s possible that you could have chosen to simply not say it but at the end when you asked why they didn’t have Julie Roberts as an extra like Dick Van Dyke, it’s because she turned it down when they asked because she didn’t want to steal the thunder from the new Mary Poppins.

This movie made me rewatch the original before it’s grainy ass film from 1964. Also 44 years for a sequel, almost half of what if feels like for the Incredibles

12:11 Julie Andrews was asked to make a cameo, but she declined, saying she wanted it to be Emily Blunt's movie. It had nothing to do with the script. Julie Andrews isn't that petty. She's Julie Fucking Andrews for Christ's sake. -1 sin
Also there's speculation that her cameo would have been as the Balloon Lady instead of Angela Lansbury, which would have made the little chat she had with Mary at the end all the more special in my view.

  • Flynn Nolen

You cannot tell me that the Angela Lansbury role was going to be given to Julie Andrews. She turned that shit down for Aquaman

  • Helen Skinner
    Helen Skinner 16 days ago

If you read the original book the way that Emily Blunt's Mary Poppins acts is more true to the actual Mary Poppins than Julie Andrews's Mary Poppins. Also alot of these sins have been put there just because you aren't aware of something's that are very specific to England. For example Leerie speak is like Cockney rhyming slang and the sky is so grey because of the fact that this is post WW2 and alot of factors still released smoke into the atmosphere, giving the already grey British sky an even more defined greyness to it, because of the smog that would have formed.

What is wrong with MPR? Try NOTHING (with the possible exception of Meryl Streep absolutely ruining things ((and adding 10 minutes to the movie)). Mary Poppins Returns was beautifully done, wonderful sets and costumes, wonderful performances--and a song "The Place Where the Lost things Go" which was quite extraordinary. You are an arrogant, sarcastic bastard to boot.

.............No.....she didn't. If you actually watched the movie, you'd know that her brother was married to someone else, who died, and that Jane doesn't even live with them, she just stayed to help out in his time of crisis.

So did anyone else grow up in a corner of the world where "tripping the lights fantastic" and subtle variations of that phrase meant getting high as balls?
For real, anyone feeling a little sad that the song Trip A Little Light Fantastic didn't get sinned for sounding like it could be encouraging children to take drugs from strangers in response to getting lost, even though it's admittedly not a super common turn of phrase?
