The easiest way to identify a cult is when the leader of the group telling you to cut off ties with your family, your friends, you neighbors, your co-workers... and the rest of the world.

Decent documentary but I can't take anything serious that takes 4chan seriously. If one makes a post on 4chan about plans to commit a mass shooting then most users will assume it's a sh*t posting and will sh*t post in response.

Are political parties also cults? They share many vharacteristics, like the leader, altered view on the world, certain things being looked down upom, financial or physical investment.... Where is that line REALLY draw? Or is it just left up to interpretation>

It's really sad how you can include Ram Dass and Eckhart Tolle in this documentary and be so ignorant to their teachings and history. Last time I checked, they have never had a "God complex", extorted large sums of money from people/exploited them, or manipulated anyone into following them. Whether you believe in their teachings, or not, they are simply modern day philosophers, not sociopathic narcissists.

As someone who has been a Christian my whole life, I am starting to vastly question if I am in a cult. There are striking resemblances. We are taught that the world is evil and to stay away from non believers and stay away from any media that is not Christian. We become isolated in a little bubble where all of our friends and family are christian, and very few people in our circle are not christian. We are told to come to church every week or multiple times a week, and to listen to christian music, read christian books, and listen to christian podcasts which further indoctrinates you. When everyone you know and love believes something and repeats the same things to you all the time it become reality to you. We don't have a leader that claims to be God, but we have Jesus who is supposed to be God, and every church normally has one paster that everyone looks up to. We even have these weird chant things where the pastor says "All the time" and we all say "God is good." then he says "and God is good" and we say back "All the time." I have stopped going to church for about 2 years now, and now that I have been away from it a see how freaking weird a lot of it is.

I was in a Christian cultish church for 15 years (similar stuff to what u mentioned) and the best thing I did was leave. I had no idea they were being so brainwashing or controlling until right at the end. When I left it was like a whole new world was open to me. I tried to find a new church and it took a while to find somewhere I couldn’t see manipulation or (in the case of the mega church) money based business. I have finally found somewhere but never again will I just swallow anything I’m told by the church. I question everything

How about following a main branch that ISN'T a cult or just do only the things that make you feel comfortable, like praying or whatever? You don't need to listen to anyone who claims to speak for God, your connection with divinity is personal.

Man I've almost joined like 3 cults. It's not that crazy actually. Everyone is usually really nice and its a cool loving environment at first. Then they start talking about recruiting and want you to basically give up your life for their cause and then that's usually when I realize what's going on.

Control, be it the control of self or the control of others, breeds conflict, violence, and suffering. See my group on Facebook: "Total Enlightenment NOW!".

  • Michael Epstein
Michael Epstein 2 months ago +1

Total Enlightenment is actually being Totally Free from fear, anxiety, suffering, loneliness, jealousy, envy, greed, hatred, or self-importance.

They who are Totally Enlightened actually treat everyone, without exception, with the same intensity and quality of care and affection that they would give their dearest closest friend, lover, or child, without any sense of division, separation or distance, and without an iota of bias or prejudice, in each and every moment of their daily life.

    Enlightenment does not take time.
    It is not of time.
It is not the result of time or the things of time.
It is not the result of any method, ritual, or diet.
It is not the result of any chemical.
It is not the result of any process.
There is no path to it.
It happens effortlessly and choicelessly...faster than the speed of light. Moreover, it is once and for all, now and forever.

Do Jacob's Ladder and set yourself Totally Free in daily life, once and for all, now and forever. There is no reason why you need waste another day trapped in the Matrix of self-deceptions.
See my group on Facebook: "Total Enlightenment NOW!"

After your Enlightenment, come join me on the front lines to make sure that only the most Loving/most Wise among us become our public servants. Then we will finally be in a position to transition to a Whole New Way of Living rooted in Love and Wisdom.
See my group on Facebook: "Creating a Wonderful World. (let's get it done already)."

All -isms, all ideologies, be it Capitalism, Socialism, Communism, Zionism, Libertarianism, Anarchism, Liberalism, Feminism, or Nationalism, prevent Lucidity.

All beliefs, religions, traditions, philosophies, opinions, perspectives, theories, prevent Lucidity.

They act like a filter, which limits, distorts, shapes and colors all Perceptions.

Therefore, your brain never Perceives anyone or anything as it actually is.

Moreover, they invent the illusion of division, separation, and disconnection between the me and the not me, which breeds conflict, violence, and suffering.

    See the danger.

The brain must be Totally Free in order to Perceive what is...the isness, the fact, the act, the actual...what is actually taking place from moment to moment, free of any interpreter or censor.

Then and only then is one capable of actually Living Love, Peace, Joy, Kindness, Goodness, Compassion (Passion for All), Beauty, Creativity, Feeling, ExperiencING, Lucidity, Truth, and Wisdom.

Then and only then is there Communication, Connection, Communion, Relationship with everyone and everything, for the very first time, in each and every moment of daily life.

So first Inner Total Freedom. Then and only then can there be Outer Total Freedom in the society.

Only such a brain can usher in a Whole New Way of Living rooted in Love and Wisdom.

Without Inner Total Freedom, you will only be moving from one form of tyranny to another form of tyranny, calling it growth, progress, or evolution.

See my group on Facebook: "Total Enlightenment NOW!".
