DOCTOR SLEEP - Official Teaser Trailer [HD]

  • Published on Jun 13, 2019
  • The World Will Shine Again. "Doctor Sleep" Only in Theaters November 8.
“Doctor Sleep” continues the story of Danny Torrance, 40 years after his terrifying stay at the Overlook Hotel in The Shining. Ewan McGregor, Rebecca Ferguson and newcomer Kyliegh Curran star in the supernatural thriller, directed by Mike Flanagan, from his own screenplay based upon the novel by Stephen King.
Still irrevocably scarred by the trauma he endured as a child at the Overlook, Dan Torrance has fought to find some semblance of peace. But that peace is shattered when he encounters Abra, a courageous teenager with her own powerful extrasensory gift, known as the “shine.” Instinctively recognizing that Dan shares her power, Abra has sought him out, desperate for his help against the merciless Rose the Hat and her followers, The True Knot, who feed off the shine of innocents in their quest for immortality.
Forming an unlikely alliance, Dan and Abra engage in a brutal life-or-death battle with Rose. Abra’s innocence and fearless embrace of her shine compel Dan to call upon his own powers as never before-at once facing his fears and reawakening the ghosts of the past.
“Doctor Sleep” stars Ewan McGregor (“Star Wars: Episodes I, II & III,” “T2 Trainspotting”) as Dan Torrance, Rebecca Ferguson (the “Mission: Impossible” films, “The Greatest Showman”) as Rose the Hat, and Kyliegh Curran, in her major feature film debut, as Abra. The main ensemble cast also includes Carl Lumbly, Zahn McClarnon, Emily Alyn Lind, Bruce Greenwood, Jocelin Donahue, Alex Essoe and Cliff Curtis.
Trevor Macy and Jon Berg produced the film, with Roy Lee, Scott Lumpkin, Akiva Goldsman and Kevin McCormick serving as executive producers.
Flanagan’s behind-the-scene creative team was led by director of photography Michael Fimognari (“The Haunting of Hill House”), production designers Maher Ahmad (“Get Hard”) and Elizabeth Boller (“Hush”), and costume designer Terry Anderson (“Den of Thieves”). The music score is composed by The Newton Brothers (“The Haunting of Hill House”).
Warner Bros. Pictures presents, An Intrepid Pictures/Vertigo Entertainment Production, A Mike Flanagan Film, “Doctor Sleep.” Slated for release in North America on November 8, 2019, and globally beginning on October 30, 2019, “Doctor Sleep” will be distributed worldwide by Warner Bros. Pictures.

Just finished the book yesterday. Almost died in the finale when Rose says "I have the high ground". She underestimates Dan's power the fool.

I'm waiting for this one. I'm a no.1 fan of Warner Bros., movies. Warner Bros. Pictures is just outstanding. Each and every movies they provide us is at it's best. And of course the studio that delivered us Harry Potter series. Thanks, WB! 🎬

I think I'm going to pass on this movie. I don't think it can live up to the original. Stanley Kubrick movies are masterpieces. Stanley Kubrick version of The Shining is one of those rare cases where the movie is better than the book. So it's hard to follow in Kubrick's shoes. It looks like they are going to take the supernatural elements of Danny's character and makes a supernatural flick based on that alone. In the original, Danny was isolated in a hotel with his family. The shining gave him foresight which saved him and his mom. Don't know what the bad entity could be. Maybe it's his dad but Jack Nicholson is like in his eighties now. It's an interesting trailer though and is a nice cash grab for WB. But following a Kubrick movie is equivalent to anyone trying to make a sequel to a Jane Austen novel. It usually falls flat.

It's based on the book Doctor Sleep which does tie in with the Overlook Hotel although in The Shining (book) the hotel burned down at the end. Danny essentially struggles with PTSD in Doctor Sleep. Dick Hallorann (who gets murdered in film adaption of the Shining but doesn't in the book) plays a pretty important role in Doctor Sleep. It's a really good book about the strength and destructiveness of communities. Worth a read, for sure.

This is based on an important novel by Stephen King under the same name, this is the continuation of The Shining. Thus, this is a risky movie to make I hope the director and producers are competent enough..

I hope it will be a decent movie. I mean, I'm not expecting much... The book is so good, it´s difficult to live up to it (mainly the story). But, as Stephen King once said, books and movies are like apples and oranges: we may like both, but they are very different things.

The BALLS to make the books sequel, it can't avoid being compared to Kubricks work... I always hope something like this would be as epic as the counterpart, but it is just too difficult. Let it be Great, please!

If you read the book, then you find scenes where Danny hears hos dad speak to him aswell as a scene in the end where he appears as a ghost. So even if they dont get Jack to play Jack, they would have to show him in some way for the movie to make any sense.

Interesting. :) :) Love the way it looks like they'll be reconstructing a ruined 'Shining' 1980-film Overlook Hotel with the REDRUM door. I just hope, with the music, it doesn't stray from horror into the realm of that 'Dark Tower' film.

You know what we need a sequel to Carrie. A real sequel book written by Stephen King called Driven and Drunk with Madness. A story where a man named Henry Ross, he is Tommy Ross little brother he witnessed his brothers murder that night at the prom because he was there. He was 15 when it happened. Anyway the story takes place 27 years after the events of the prom. Chris Hargenson wakes up from a coma after surviving Carrie White. She doesnt remember anything about the events, she is met by a man named Detective Terry Jones. He tells her you were in an accident you've been in a coma for 27 years. She remembers her name and her father but everything else is a blur at the moment. Jones asks her out for coffee they start dating. The town is celebrating the event of the high school massacre, every year Jones goes to pay his respects to his brother and goes to the cemetery where they buried Carrie and places her favorite roses on her grave. She loved White rose. On the day of his brothers birthday he asks Chris out they drink they laugh and then all of a sudden a girl walks over and says her name is Janet Nolan, she remembers her because she went out with her brother Billy Nolan. Chris starts to have sudden flashes in her mind. Flashbacks to the events of the high school massacre. Jones drives her to his place and gives her some water. Little does she know Jones put some powdered tranquilizers I her water. She faints then a few hours later she wakes up and is tied to a chair in a basement. She freaks out and asks where am I? Jones walks over and says where you belong. She asks Jones why is she tied to a chair well its because she knows something that she can't remember. He places his hand on her forehead and her memories are restored. He tells her I was their that night you murdered my brother you killed Carrie white you killed all those people. She doesnt remember her brother until he tells her who he really is his real name is Henry Alan Ross. He is Tommy Ross little brother. He has the power to restore people of amnesia and can project their worst nightmares. Anyway in the end Chris is in a psychiatric hospital and has been their for 27 years. Their was no Henry Alan Ross it was all in her mind. She rests for a while until she wakes up in a cemetery with multiple graves around her all with the names of those from the high school massacre. Hands come out of the ground and drag her under she escapes she runs until she sees a damaged car and its the ghost of Billy Nolan he says you killed me you little bitch. But I forgive you in this life but not in Hell! She wakes up and shes still in psychiatric hospital in a straight jacket she sees the ghosts of those shes murdered and laughs maniacally. In the end we see Henry Ross placing a set of white roses on Carrie Whites grave and says rest now beloved I'll see you very soon. He walks away and then fades from existence.

Maybe all of you want to be politically correct, but I wonder why americans have the obsession of changing white characters to their black-versions just to be 'inclusive'? I mean, I would not have any tiny complain, if the story described Abra that way, but in the mind of Stephen King, that girl is WHITE-BLOND-BLUE-EYED since (********BIG SPOILER*********) she's blood-related to Danny... So why the obsession to make everything 'inclusive'???? Is'nt Halloran and hi's part in the story is already covering that aspect? Just wondering. The cute girl in the trailer might be a good actress, but then again, what's the point, or the need???

    Hear me out.
Mike Flanigan is a good director, and can make pretty entertaining films, but I think trying to make a film on the same level as Stanley Kubrick is a bit too out of his league, even Stephen Spielberg struggled to do so with "A.I." The only directors I think would even come close to making a film in that ballpark are Christopher Nolan, Denis Villenueve, or Yorgos Lanthimos.
