History remembers Lincoln. But there were other great abolitionists. Thaddeus Stevens for one. And earlier in Britain: Granville Sharp, William Wilberforce and Olaudah Equiano among others It was under Lord Grenville that slavery was abolished here in 1807

Thad is just as interesting a character as Lincoln. For all the reputation Lincoln has as the "Great Emancipator" he was was a moralist 2nd and a politician first, given his overturning of Gen. John C Fremont's proclamation that all Missouri slaves were free, later recalling and replacing Fremont when he refused the order and repeating his decision when Gen. David Hunter proclaimed all slaves free in Florida, Georgia, and South Carolina, going on to demand that Gen. Hunter disband the regiment of black soldiers he'd raised in South Carolina. Lincoln's foremost goal was the preservation of the Union. Thad on the other hand was a firebrand moralist opposed to Lincoln's politicking, and I find that level of passion absolutely fascinating for an elected representative.

Tommy Lee Jones playing...Mr.Tommy Lee Jones. I think at some point in even a successful actor's career, he achieves a stasis, even a calcification, of character. It's what his fan base wants, and it is so easy to accept. What has made Daniel Day Lewis remarkable is retaining his protean talent. Int his movie we see not Lewis playing himself as Lincoln, but becoming Lincoln, completely, without reservation, holding nothing back.n A good way to end any acting career.

Following the rules and the laws are not a requirement for greatness. If it was, every revolutionary ever would be considered solely a traitor, and the entirety of America a nation of traitors. Lincoln is one of the greatest men because, despite all obstacles and despite whatever rules he had to break, he helped make slavery illegal in America. Lincoln won his place in history. Like Washington, Alexander the Great, Julius Caesar, and all the other greats throughout history. We can criticize them, disagree with them, poke holes in their ideas and plans, and even question the motives. But denying their place in history as one of the greats is rather pointless now.

Many historians of American history agreed that slavery as a practice or an institution will not die a natural death not just fade away. It takes definite action to end it either by law or war or both. It took both law & war to finally end this scourge unfortunately. Lincoln tried compromise, it didn't work & it took him sometime to understand that he got no choice than to Force the South in order to bring it to heel & finally destroy the enslavement of a race at a costly price which involved his life too.

lincoln actions caused 600,000 American all because he wanted to keep the union and wouldnt let the south free. "I have no purpose to introduce political and social equality between the white and black races. There is physical difference between the two which, in my judgment, will probably forever forbid their living together upon the footing of perfect equality, and inasmuch as it becomes a necessity that there must be a difference, I, as well as Judge Douglas, am in favor of the race to which I belong having the superior position." -Lincoln Conclusion? history is full of lies and 3 biggest liars are Hollywood, media and education system.
