Minna no nihongo is a widely used textbook in these kinds of classes because the grammar explanation book is published in several languages such as Vietnamese, Chinese, etc. so the teacher can teach immersion style and the students can refer to the book for an explanation and translation in their own language. It's a crappy book though for the classroom. For self-study it's okay.

Except that proper nouns are always followed by a comma so you're still helping your uncle jack off a horse but now your doing it with capitols... Yes I'm a loser... I'll show myself out... But here's the proper sentence: Helping your uncle Jack, off of a horse.

Tokyo Disney SEA is awesome, especially in November (snowed the day we went, first Nov snow in 20 yrs apparently). Park was pretty open and almost no kids! Night time rocked, we got his and her toy story monster heads with attached mitten arms to keep warm. When you're there, be sure to eat ALL the flavors of popcorn (15+??). Curry was our favorite.

Funniest video I've watched in a while! The "dog's bollocks" and "I'm zebra" moments are truly gems hahahahahha. I love your personality Chris, but Natsuki is simply a rockstar. It's nice that you have him as your friend, he seems to be a genuine good person.

Haha I'm so glad to only learn for myself. No need to learn to handwrite kanji these days. I only do it a little to help telling them apart better, but the skill to actually write all of them from scratch feels like a huge waste for most people.

I didn't know Aya, but I know a Japanese female food fighter called "Gal Sone". Her stomach is usually normal, but when she eats food, her stomach spreads over half of her torso and the other internal organs move toward her back. At one time, her waist was 63cm before the meal, but her waist was 83cm after the meal.

Countryside all the way for me. I was living in Kōnosu, in Saitama prefecture 23 years ago around a similar age that you are now. My situation was different as I was starting a family. So my priority's were quite different considering what the area would like for a forth coming child. I found it very hospitable and friendly and only very rarely experienced any negativity at all. BTW, I was teaching embalming, so my company handled practically all of my necessities. Our landlord was a great guy who frequently gave us fresh vegetables from his garden. Though, officially he didn't even rent to foreigners. My wife is Korean, so I always thought perhaps he thought her a western raised Japanese who didn't speak the language. For whatever, reason he was just super nice to us while being fairly stern with my Canadian co-workers. My Japanese was pathetic for at least the first half of my 1.5 years there. I always felt like the locals always made the extra effort to accommodate us. I even had a band of cool friends to play live music with from around the area. We toured around the regional coffee shop scene and performed. It was an incredibly fun time and apart from occasionally missing home, I really enjoyed living there. Thanks for making these videos. I am really enjoying watching them and reminiscing about my own time in Japan.

Hey Chris, how about a video about "tourist traps" in japan or neighborhoods you should avoid as a tourist? Or maybe a video in which you test some of these apps wich automatically translate spoken english and translate it into japanese? Are they any good? I think many people, who think about visiting Japan at some time in the future, would be interested in a video about that. Thanks and keep up the good work!

6:22 In Japan you get your food in a plastic box packed into a plastic bag and that plastic bag is put into another plastic bag but you get no paper to dry your hands in the toilet...because reasons. Oh and by 7:52 was the guys name Schrödinger? And I heard that due to Shoko Asahara they removed bins from the city in Japan. Because of the terrorism act where bombs were hidden in garbage bins.

I believe that the Catholic crusaders had to create that lie, that Christ had come to Japan, in order to convert them. Think about it. A secluded island. Zero history with jews, zero history with Islam, zero history with judaism. How do you convert them, if their history itself never mentiones those people?

Such a shame you didn't know that there are some excellent Vegan eateries in Okayama really near the station! If you have the chance to be in the Okayama & Hiroshima area again, please let me know - I have so many wonderful suggestions! Vegans in Japan certainly do not have to starve in 2019 anymore as it is getting easier and easier as more international travelers are coming to Japan who follow a plant-based diet :)
