I’m very sad about the american school system 😢 it’s statistically one of the worst school systems even when I was living in mexico we had a better school system even tho over there they are more strict than in the US they had a better school system but still not great. Just better 😢 but her in California 💔 it hurts how bad it is!

The no-homework thing is a total myth. I have two kids at (different) schools in Finland and both have had homework since grade 1 almost every day. It is not a lot of homework (done in about 30 minutes) though. Also a fair amount of tests (I don't know how much is "many exams" but definitely as many as I had in my childhood (80's) in Germany) - for teachers to check progress and knowledge. About the difference in schools: It does depend to a degree where you go because in some areas there might be more or less kids with social problems, and of course the whole experience depends a lot on what the teachers are like. Older teachers seem not to get a lot of additional education to keep up to date - so elderly teachers could be somewhat old fashioned in their approaches. The one thing I miss in Finnish schools is that there are NO class trips/travels (unlike in Germany, where classes often travel together). There are excursions for a day, but no real trips for a week or so. At least not in my kid's schools.

So there's a blessing in being miserable _all_ _the_ _time_ after all - you don't ever have to be especially depressed at any given time of the year. On the other hand I do end up slipping over a whole lot more on the ice. Have you found in your studies that there's any comorbidity between depression and clumsiness?

I've not found the lack of sun too bad here in Vantaa this winter. To prevent myself from moping I've kept to a strict routine: Gym three times a week, and a walk at least an hour long on non-gym days. I also try to get up and go to bed at the same time each day so I don't just stay in bed until the sun comes up. So far so good :)

1.Analyze your work day- Are your projects/assignments/submissions/exams rigorous and taking up a lot of your time leaving you with little for everything else? Do you feel you're stuck in a rut and not doing the things you should be actually doing? 2.A busy schedule leaves very little time for preparation of elaborate balanced diets rich in vitamins and minerals....it's usually eat on the go... 3. We humans are wired for contact with other human beings....a busy student life can disrupt that.Besides your friends could be of your own age group who're equally busy. So here's my old fashioned advice....keeping it simple 1.Read Barbara Ehrenreich's books like Natural Causes and Bright Sided written with wisdom and humour . 2. Ideally a balanced diet is good but since you're a busy student, a multi vitamin supplement after breakfast or dinner should do and will boost ALL vitamins not just vitamin D. 3.That bit about friends(and quality friends) is REALLY important. Even an hour squeezed in somewhere can be a mood elevator . 4.REMEMBER that it's perfectly allright to be depressed sometimes .We're human and our environment does affect us.Try not to get into too much symptomatic cure....sometimes the cure is more stressful than the disease !

Great tips! When I was in Oulu, I tried to keep myself busy or even better, be with my other friends who were also feeling SAD or just missed the sun. We would do some group activity that involved something mental to get our minds distracted or just something as simple as grabbing a beer at a dimly lit (Ironic I know) pub. Also I can’t emphasise the tip on going out when there’s a little sun and playing some great music at the same time. It really helps and you almost get an immediate feeling of energy and happiness like you’re breathing your first breath of fresh air.

But in warm countries people walk a lot they can spend time outdoor so they talk more often too, And when you see homeless people don't feel guilty but since you are at a tender age be very careful about your friends don't drink do drugs .

In Pakistan we have test almost every day we call them spot test and standardized test everh month we spend almost 8 hours in school and still learn nothing. Our school system is all about memorizing and after spending 8 hours in school we have to go to academy and we spend 4 hours there, no one actually cares what we learn they want good hand writting and just want us to fill pages. And grades are more important then concepts for us school is like a torture cell and plus we have to make practical copies and it does no matters if we don't know what practical was about

THIS SYSTEM NEEDS TO BE IMPLEMENTED WORLD WIDE. I STUDIED IN AN EDUCATION SYSTEM THAT RUINED MY SELF CONFIDENCE & SELF ESTEEM. Before i was enrolled in school i refused due to school punishment stories i heard from my siblings. So i grew up knowing that teachers are some torturing machines..& school is there just to steal your happiness,,, a thing that was almost true due to the hardships we went through. The appearance of school was notorious,,, as ugly as some jail wards,,,toilets were a mess,, we studied almost 10 hours a day just memorizing non sense. Every morning when i thought of school caused me to have a mental fatigue. I wanna make a change in my country that the school system should change so that the kids will be excited to go to school just like in finland

At the time I am typing this post, I've been training him for about 3 weeks, and he is starting to respond. While it is going to take a long time, he does come to me when I call him. My beagle is also highly energetic. If it wasn't for the leash, he would be at a full run most of the time. Its true, I would never let the little guy off the leash, or he would tear off after a scent and I may never see him again. However, we'll see where the training goes.
